A 35-year-old drunken man was seen jumping into a lion enclosure at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad, India. Why did he jump into a cage a with a pride of lions? Because he wanted “to shake hands with a lion”. Fortunately, for him, a rescue team managed to take him out of the lion pit before he was mauled by the 200 kg (440 lb) hungry beast.

The name of the drunken man is Mukesh, originally from Rajasthan, he was in Hyderabad working as a laborer for L&T Metro Rail.
Witnesses reportedly saw him jump into the pen, landing in the water, 12 feet below. Mukesh managed to waddle his way towards the lions, two of the lions noticed Mukesh and began to look inquisitively at the drunken man. Staff & visitors began throwing rocks at the lion to distract them from drunken Mukesh waving his hand towards them, trying to greet them. The lions began to flee from the heavy stones and rocks being thrown.
The crowd which had gathered began to shout at Mukesh to begin his escape, The staff lowered a pole into the enclosure, which Mukesh climbed up and made his way out of the pit.

The Bahadurpura Police arrested Mukesh and charged him with trespassing. The zoo official released a statement saying they will increase the security and safety for their visitors.
