On Saturday 21st January, 24-year-old Chan Sokchea was shot dead after a failed attempt to stop a robbery of his fiance and his sister in Chamkarmon district, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
At 1:20 am, Sokchea's fiancée, Neth Sothearoth, 22, and his sister Chan Sreypour, 18, were leaving their home when they were approached by three robbers who arrived on motorbikes
One robber approached the victims and attempted to grab their phones outside their front door. The girls struggled with the robbers before being knocked to the floor.
Sokchea, driving a Lexus sedan, arrived back from a friends party and spotted this fiance and sister being robbed. He rammed his car in the robber's direction but ended up running his fiance over and smahing into his home.
One of the robbers fired 5 bullets into the drivers side before escaping from the scene.Sokchea died from the gunshot wound on his way tot he hospital, Sothearoth remains in hospital recovering from her injuries.
The robbers managed to escaped with both the victims phones.
