Transit Officer Saves Suicidal Man

A transit officer pulls a man from a train track seconds before a train approaches

New Jersey transit police officer, Victor Ortiz, has been hailed a hero after pulling a suicidal man off of train tracks seconds before a high-speed commuter train almost crushes the man to death.

The incident happened on the morning of Friday, 26th August, near Secaucus Junction. The entirety of the incident was caught on surveillance cam overlooking the train tracks where the suicidal man was laying.

The suicidal man, who has not been identified, was spotted laying on the tracks by the 16-year veteran of the force, Victor Ortiz. The officer briefly tries to conversate with the man, failing to get him to move and knowing that death is imminent he tries to physically remove the man from the tracks.

Officer Ortiz is seen in the video struggling for almost 20 seconds as he attempts to drag the man off of the tracks.

The officer was able to pull the man off of the train track mere seconds before the commuter train hurtled nearby.

The suicidal man reportedly ran away from the scene after the train passed.
