I've officially witnessed what "Too much pizza" looks like and although it looks overwhelming , it does still look mouthwateringly delicious.
Chefs, cooks and pizza makers from all over Naples came together on the 13th of May to construct the longest pizza the world has ever seen. The pizza they managed to create was 1,853.88 metres (6082.2 feet / 1.15 miles) long and required over 100 people to help build. The previous record holder for the longest pizza was held by La Pizza+1 of Sante Ludovico, NIPfood of Dovilio Nardi and Tomato World Week 2015 whose combined efforts in 2015 made a slightly less impressive 1,595.45 m (5,234 ft 4.8 in) long pizza in Milan, Italy. The Guinness World Records recorded the event and officialised the pizza and people who helped make it into the history books.
The pizza took 11 hours to complete, and 30 minutes to deliver, kidding about the delivery part. It required 5 wood fire ovens, which were portable as they had wheels, wheels make things portable. People pushed the ovens over the pizza slowly cooking the mile long pizza to perfection.
The pizza required a tremendous amount of time and effort but most importantly Ingredients. The pizza used locally sourced ingredients consisting of 2,000 kg of flour, 1,600 kg of tomatoes, 2,000 kg of fiordilatte cheese and 200 litres of olive oil.
Once the record had been set onlookers and participants were all able to get a taste of the huge creation any leftovers were given to the needy in the area.
